Technology in Knee Replacement Surgery

Several types of total knee replacement systems include:

• Fixed Bearing- The workhorse of knee replacement surgery.
• Rotating Platform Bearing- closely simulates the action of the normal knee joint
• Cruciate retaining - designed for knees where the posterior cruciate ligament is retained
• Posterior stabilized - designed for knees where the posterior cruciate is weak or is removed

Dr. Cuellar will determine the most appropriate knee design based on the individual
patient.
